“Cyclone Nargis” unmasked who is who for Burma

Cyclone Nargis has already taken the lives of several hundred thousand Burmese. Exact number of death caused by cyclone will never be known to all of us, as Burmese Junta seems to be busy counting the lost of livestock, with very impressive statistics of dead Chicken, Ducks and Cows, revealed to the shocked local and international media during a press conference.

While estimated two to two and a half million survivors of cyclone desperately hang on their lives, Military Junta of Burma, and International community were at loggerhead, unable to get an agreement how to save the lives for those who were in immediate danger.

Cyclone Nargis has revealed the real nature of who is who, for the sake of Burmese people.

Burma, political Cul de Sac for Gambari

2008_03_05t033841_450x300_us_myanmar_un.jpg

Blogger’s thought

Cul-de-sac is the road with dead end. That is the road to which, Gamabri is going tomorrow, the road without exit for the UN special envoy.

In a country where the Generals are preparing to do a referendum at gun point, the soft diplomacy of Mr. Gambari will gain nothing except wasting UN funds for traveling to several countries, majority of which want to see the Status Quo of Burma under Military rulers.

Just have a look at the following news in Burmese from DVB as an example. You can see a person;( actually he is 70 years old) with swollen eye and bleeding nose. He is an elected NLD MP, who was punched to his face by Junta thugs for praying at a Pagoda near Mandalay.

What did he pray for? He went to Pagoda to pray for Freedom of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and freedom for Burma. For that reason he was attacked and punched to his face by Junta’s thug.

He went to the police station to lodge a report. Instead he was arrested, as well as all of his family members. Later he was sentenced to seven years in prison, while authority ignored the bleeding eyes and broken nose.

3961-220080305_u-than-lwin-left-eye-blind-copy.gif

Copied from DVB news

Today news said his left eye is totally blind, due to internal bleeding during detention. His family has appealed to various levels of authorities to allow him to be treated before he became blind. Finally he was allowed to see the specialists in Mandalay General Hospital. The doctors were unable to save his left eye.

He was arrested in 2007 for organizing a prayer service at a Pagoda for freedom of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all the political prisoners of Burma. Later he was assaulted by a group of pro junta thugs, resulting injury to left eye and a broken nose.

When he went to lodge a report at police station, he was arrested together with his family members. Later some of his family members were acquitted, however he was sentenced to seven years jail sentence for allegedly saying that ” we are going to torch the Pyi Khine Phyo ( pro Junta thug’s) office” However the thugs who used the iron fist to attack this MP was not arrested.

That is just an example among million cases of injustice done to the Burmese people by Military Junta.

When this blogger says Mr Gambari walks towards the road to political Cul-de-sac, he hopes most of the readers will agree with him after reading this post.

A Charity’s Checkered Past

Excerpts:

In more recent years, the Sasakawa and Nippon foundations have supported seminars organized in Rangoon by the Myanmar [Burma] Institute of Strategic and International Studies on “Research on International Economy in Myanmar” as well as various health projects. The Sasakawa Foundation has also in part financed the Myanmar Times, a weekly newspaper established in March 2000, which the Australian monthly The Diplomat in its November-December 2007 issue quoted critics as describing as “little more than a cheerleader for the junta.”

Yoichi Yamaguchi, the former Japanese ambassador to Burma who recently caused an outcry by openly supporting the regime’s brutal suppression of the monks’ anti-junta demonstrations in Rangoon and elsewhere, has also been linked to some of the activities of Sasakawa’s outfits. On December 14, 2003, the New Light of Myanmar reported that then intelligence chief Gen Khin Nyunt had received Yamaguchi together with Nippon Foundation president Yohei Sasakawa, Ryoichi’s youngest son who now heads the philanthropical empire, after his father-the accused war criminal-passed away 12 years ago

The above paragraph was copied from a pro junta blog. I do not think the meaning of this paragraph really reflects what took place on that day as Daw Suu is unable to defend herself .She is still under detention by Military Junta. However, Daw Suu was right to advise ASEAN to not accept Burma as now all the ASEAN leaders openly admit that they have made a major political blunder by accepting Burma as a member.

After reading Bertil Lintner’s article, this blogger is of the opinion that Yoichi Yamaguchi was lucky that Daw Suu merely scolded him, ( if it was true) by looking at his tarnished background, and insincere approach towards the Burmese people. Actually Daw Suu is not an arrogant leader; on the contrary she is gifted with Political Wisdom! And like her father General Aung San she has the courage to say what is not right for the Burmese People.

Now everybody understands that ASEAN does not do anything good for the Burmese People.

Salute again to Aunty Suu for her courage !

Say Young Sone Comedians, start their international tour.

Burmese Comedians known in Burmese as “Thee Lay Thee ” are the latest among the artists who have demonstrated their courage by making jokes to the Military Junta’s brutal suppression of the recent uprising in Burma. Say Young Sone Anyein is the latest hits among the Burmese in Burma as well as overseas community.

Burma Today , recently interviewed these Comedians, Sein Thee, Kyae Thee, Pan Thee and Zee Thee. In Burmese Thee means fruits like apples and orange, rounded citrus in nature. However Thee, when used behind Kyae ( Star), KyaeThee become button of the shirts.

These comedians are famous among Burmese as two edible fruits, Pan thee ( Apple) and Zee Thee ( Plum). Another two comedians are the name of non edible things, Sain Thee means Diamond button, and Kyae Thee means Button of the Shirts. Burmese language has the same pronunciation with different meaning, like Thee when used behind Pan become Pan Thee which is apple, in case of Kyae which means Star followed by Thee become button of shirts.

Well respected activist comedian Zarganar, according to Sein Thee, passed the baton to the new Generation of the activist Comedians for Burma, who have guts to make jokes and satire against ruthless Military Generals.

So far they were not arrested, however their famous Say Young Sone Anyein VCD s were banned in Burma. Most of the Burmese people were able to see their jokes as the VCD were widely spread beyond the Junta’s control.

They are going to perform Anyein ( Burmese traditional dance combined with jokes) in KL, and Penang on 30th and of December and 6th of January respectively. Later they will perform in Singapore and Thailand.

Legacy of the courageous heroes, Bhutto’s and Aung San’s

“Military rule is the cause of anarchism in Pakistan. Military rule is not the solution of the problems of Pakistan”

Benazir Bhutto

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan – Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday in a suicide attack that also killed at least 20 others at a campaign rally, aides said.

The death of the 54-year-old charismatic former prime minister threw the campaign for the Jan. 8 parliamentary elections into chaos and created fears of mass protests and violence across the nuclear-armed nation, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism.

We still do not know who was really behind her assassination.

alibuhtto.jpg

Her father, Former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is seen in a Tuesday, February 6, 1979 file photo as he waits for the sentence of The Supreme Court of Pakistan on his conviction and death sentence on a charge of political murder. Later he was executed by then Military Government, led by General Zia.

Banazir, who was accused of having some short coming by her critics however died as a hero as she has escaped at least one assassination attempt after her home coming few months ago. Even though she was well aware of the risk for her life, she has courageously faced it. Now, she has sacrificed her life for the cause she believe for her country.

aung-san.jpg

General Aung San was assassinated by his political enemies. There are still grey area of General Aung San’s assassination and involvement of late Dictator Ne Win of Burma.

aungsansuu-kyi.jpg

His daughter Aung San Suu Kyi was under house arrest for more than a decade for being a leading icon of Democracy Movement in Burma. This blogger is very sure that Benizir’s assassination would be closely watched by the Burmese Generals in Nay Pyi Taw of Burma for their future strategy to deal with pro democracy movement in Burma.

All these leaders has demonstrated extraordinary courage and sacrifice for their country they love. That is their legacy.

This blogger would like to praise the courage of the Comedians after watching the Jokes of the Anyein performance , which is usually combined with the traditional dance with the jokes.

However the Jokes made by the famous comedians, Godzilla, King Kong, and the others make all of us laughing at the same times feel deep sorrow as we all know that these comedians were crying in their heart while making the Jokes to express the feeling for the 50 millions Burmese, who’s mouths were sealed by the Military Junta.

For the non Burmese readers I am unable to translate their jokes as they smartly and bravely used the Myanmar Language, Culture and tradition with current situation of Burma in indirect words. Myanmar Language is difficult to translate in its true essence as meaning may change with different intonation.

Following is my favourite quote regarding humor and the fight for democracy which was originally from Irrawaddy On-line.

Do it your self Democracy Burmese Style

“There has been, of course, the clever use of new technologies such as mobile phones and the Internet, but some of the methods used—like invocation of cultural symbols or spreading of subversive jokes about the junta—are difficult to understand as “political activity” by many outsiders. “

Excerpt from Irrawaddy,
The generals who run Burma don’t like it when the joke’s on them, but political satire and humor are alive in military-ruled Burma.

A popular VCD depicting a traditional anyein performance is now selling like hot cakes in Burma. An anyein is like a variety show with comedians, singing and dancing.

The performance took place at Myaw Zin Gyun near Rangoon’s lake Kan Daw Gyi on November 24.

Well-known comedians including Godzilla, King Kong and Kyaw Htoo and four comedians known as “Thee Lay Thee” performed live in spite of a warning from authorities.

Before going on stage, Godzilla was asked to sign a document saying he would not make political jokes.

The comedian troupe is known as “Say Young Sone” (The Colorful).

Collateral Damage,Demons and Angels of the Freedom of Burma

hmaing.jpg

The Blogger’s thought

Truthfulness

Sincerity

Love

Peace

These are the values that this blogger love

Slandering

Back Biting

Lies

Hatred

These are the values that this blogger hate

However we are at the War with the Evil, who does not understand any values of the norm.

We do not have much time to think of in the War, as we need to move quickly and effectively to achieve the aim which is the Freedom Of Burma.

I have heard that some of my fellow bloggers were criticised by others for posting the information which was unable to verify its authenticity.

I would like to call this kind of mistake as Collateral damage of the War which is unavoidable. This blogger has posted some posts in this blog which may hurt some people’s feeling.

Please do not forget that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi,and U Tin Oo were still under the arrest. We heard that Ko Ko Gyi was sick in the Insein prison. Ko Htin Kyaw’s where about was unknown to his family. Latest information about him was “he was on hunger strike”.

Min Ko Naing and other 88 generation leaders were in the Burmese Prisons, which seems to be little humane whenever UN Envoys visit them. Otherwise these places are inaccessible to the normal Burmese Citizens.

In short Burma is an example of the modern day slavery under the Military Junta. Our Independence has been taken away by the Generals for almost half a Century.

So what is the big deal about making some mistakes in writing some wrong information in the blogs. I was told by a friend that Than Shwe was never hospitalised for the mental illness and Wikepedia was wrong in that aspect.

I wish Wikepedia was right about that information. Even if it is wrong , my conscious is clear as I am very sure that he is a real Evil. When we attack the father of the Evil, some of the small Demons will be exposed.

If these people are Angels, however we have wrongly placed them in the list of Demons, the history will finally reveal the answer of who were the Angels and Who were the Demons of the history of Burma.

I would call these unintentional mistakes as collateral damage on the road to the Freedom of Burma.

Because of the indecisivness and the slow reaction of U Nu, Ne Win has grabbed the Democracy from Burmese people and passed over to the generations of the Evil Regimes.

General Aung San was quick and swift in his decision, that made the “Temporary Independence of Burma” from 1948 to 1962 possible.

So let’s forget the distractions, and keep on moving forward.

Read the Classic Poem of the Great Burmese Poet.

pyinma_mtw_b.jpg

The Pyinma* Stump
(Pyinma Ngote Toh)

Gnarled, grotesque and vulture like
Old Pyinma stump assumes an ugly sight
It stands alone on the mound height.

Its branching point has an old hole
Scab around it has hardened and old
It was eaten by white ants galore.

Near the mound bank the soil is parched
A soldier’s helmet and a dry cloth dummy perched
It points to a military camp.

This old Pyinma stump
Has endured wars and white ants
Suffered sword-cuts and sun-burns
Storms could not turn it bowed
When summer comes along…
Old leaves fall down for new leaves
It assumes a new look in the breeze
Wow! Thou art a hero to me.

* Pyinma is a big tropical tree like an oak tree in Europe.

Just want to share with the Burmese Readers. This  great poem , used to be recited by all of us, once upon a time in Burma.

Sayagyi Minthuwun who was a Great Burmese poet and National Literature Laurette’s Classic works were banned by the Military Junta for his involvement in the National Politics of Burma, even after his death.

R Zarnie created havoc in Mai Sauk?

(DVB Report of R Zarnie stage show)

This blogger has received information regarding the R Zarnie stage show from two different sources. According to DVB, the satge shows seemed to be uneventful, however the New Era Joural reported as follows. ( The blogger personally like R Zarnie’s powerful voice)

Burmese Singer R Zarnie has performed a live stage show recently, in Mai Sauk, Thailand. According to the New Era Journal, R Zarnie was late for his performance, which was initially scheduled to start at 7 pm. The live stage show actually started at 10 pm where 7000 odd Burmese workers gathered to support the famous Burmese Singer, had to wait for three hours.

Some of the workers were arrested by the Thai Police on the way back home as it was late. At least one worker was beaten by the Thai police during the performance.

After the show R Zanie refused to be interviewed by the press. He has told the press that he may be in trouble if he had granted the interview. He however said that those who were brave enough to follow with him to Myawaddy, ( Burmese Junta Territory) would be allowed to interview.

Poem “Man is”…by Generation Wave, Call for Democracy in Burma.

paper32.jpg

Man is…

Born to great sights

To immerse oneself in dignity

Chest puffed out, head thrust high in the air

Knowledge of freedom is empowering

Yet instead we succumb to servitude

Crouching and meekly folding our limbs, defeated.

Eyes cast downward, hearts in the mud

Dignity lost and unredeemed.

Man is…

created with a fierce need to oppose oppression

to welcome progress with embracing arms.

Why put ourselves through this travesty

to grind away at our very being

When dear comrades, it is much easier to stretch our legs and arms,

stand upright and join the glorious march for dignity and democracy?

Generation Wave

Translated by KR
