Meet the Cyclone Nargis Orphans

This blogger has decided to stop the posts related to Cyclone Nargis of Burma as most of the mainstream media as well as the alternate media has successfully highlighted the plight of the cyclone victims from the different perspectives from political,socio-economical aspects, to  disaster management.

However when this blogger has accidentally bumped into the AP news photos of children, who became  orphans after cyclone Nargis, this blogger feels like sharing  the pain, sorrow and  suffering of these innocent children victims of Cyclone Nargis with blog readers.

Su Myat Swe Yu, 12, controls her tears as she tells that she misses her parents who were both killed during the cyclone that hit the country, Sunday, July 6, 2008 in a village in Myanmar. With thousands of casualties from the cyclone, a great number of children were orphaned and are now living with their relatives or neighbors who care for them.

Logjam, Political Emergency of Burma and SOP

This blogger has found out that significant numbers of blog readers click the following old post, which was posted on 18th of March, 2008.

That was few months before Cyclone Nargis struck Burma. Now It is obvious to all of us that Burmese Generals have failed to follow the Standard Operating Procedure in post Disaster management. The results of failure was the death of more than 130,000 people ( Burmese Government Source). Million were homeless. Human suffering due to diseases, lost of loved ones and properties of the people at ground zero would be impossible to convert into words. That is why…

This blogger would like to re post the ” Logjam, Political Emergency of Burma”again. SOP is short form of Standard Operating Procedure.

Logjam, Political Emergency of Burma

Filed under: Blogger’s Thought, Burma, Myanmar, Military Junta,, Thailand, burma politics — Sit Mone @ 11:05 am

Blogger’s thought

(This post was written after reading the news of
new Thai PM defending Military Junta of Burma after his successful
visit to Nay Pyi Taw)

Logjam,

That is the situation, which Burmese people are
facing right now. Burmese blogosphere has been quiet for last few days
without any breaking news and events.

Logjam is deadlock, or impasse, or blockage, in simple English.

It is political deadlock, and political emergency for Burma.

This blogger has a friend who is a Captain of
Boeing 747. This blogger asked him what is the most exciting period for
him in every flight? He said “during take off”.

“Because SOP can not be applied successfully after
exceeding certain speed limit”. The pilot could neither abort nor fly
the plane if the plane malfunctions after exceeding certain speed limit
while taking off from a runway.

Brave Pilots of this Concorde Aircraft followed the SOP even though they new that no chance for them to survive! However avoided crash into populated area.

Failed State Alert, Burma!

Failed states can no longer perform basic functions such as education, security, or governance, usually due to fractious violence or extreme poverty. Within this power vacuum, people fall victim to competing factions and crime, and sometimes the United Nations or neighboring states intervene to prevent a humanitarian disaster. However, states fail not only because of internal factors. Foreign governments can also knowingly destabilize a state by fueling ethnic warfare or supporting rebel forces, causing it to collapse.

Burma was in position of 18 among 20 failed counties according to failed state index in 2006. Further drop to position 14 was noted in 2007. Failed State Alert was issued on Burma after Cyclone Nargis by The Fund For Peace.

(The Fund for Peace, a research and educational organization that works to prevent war and alleviate the conditions that cause war. The FfP specializes on the diagnosis and resolution of conflicts associated with weak and failing states and on foreign policy responses.)

Video copied from Arzarni Blog/original m4 news

This post is meant for non Burmese readers who wish to know more about Burmese activist, comedian, and a dental surgeon.Initially most of the Burmese people have known him only as a popular comedian in early 80s. By mid 80s, he became a very popular figure among Burmese for stinging and daring jokes relating Burmese Socialist Government . After 1988 uprising, his life has totally changed into pro democracy activist. Due to that reason he was in an out of Burmese jails during last 20 years.

He was arrested again on 5th of June 2008, for unknown reason, by Military Junta of Burma. Before the latest arrest, he was actively involved in helping Cyclone Nagis victims. He did not fail to criticize Military Junta for failure to save the thousand of lives aftermath of Cyclone.

This blogger has several posts about Zarganar in this weblog. Check at catagory drawdown menu at left column and look for ZARGANAR. You will find who he is.
