“True Lies” of Generations of Burmese Generals

Followings are the excerpts from Burmese Generals’ speeches, statements, press release, to Burmese People and International News Media,.. later found out to be not more than sky full of lies…lies…lies…

This blogger would like to extract the following favourite lies from numerous others, as a good example. That is.. the words of late General Saw Maung’s speech to the whole nation on 23rd September 1988. Shall they deserve to be trusted for free and fair referendum?, after reading, well documented pledges which turned out to be lies during last two decades.

“The fact that only a few persons have been assigned a large number of portfolio responsibilities is clearly indicative that there is no desire whatsoever to cling on to power for a long period. I and all my colleagues, and all Tatmadawmen most respectfully and honestly give our word to all rahans, laity and the people that we do not wish to cling to State power for long.”

July 1988

Ne Win’s Speech (full text) to the Extraordinary Party Congress of the Burma Socialist Programme Party (BSPP)

July 23 1988 Party Congress delegates. I speak on matters for calling Extraordinary Party Congress and the matters to be presented, discussed and approved by this Congress and carried out. Other points which need to be included will also be included. I believe the 1988 March and June bloodshed and disturbances were meant as moves by those who took part in the disturbances and those behind them to show lack of confidence in the Government and the Party leading the Government.

It is necessary to assess whether among the people of the entire country, a majority is behind those lacking confidence or a minority. As I believe that holding a national referendum on what they wish–a one-party system or a multi-party system–would bring out the answer, I am asking the Party Congress to hold a referendum.

If the majority want a multi-party system, the present Constitution’s provision under Chapter II, Paragraph 11 for the sole political party leading the State will have to be substituted with wording in consonance with a multi-party system. A suitable lapse of time would of course be needed for convenient movement of the people, production of ballot cards and other requirements.

I request the present organizations to hand over authority without delay, if the new Hluttaw or the organizations formed by that Hluttaw say that they are no longer needed or continue assistance if asked to do so for some time.

Time to stop wishful thinking of Burmese Referendum and Constitution

Blogger’s Opinion

This blogger has decided to write this post after reading an article “Observers split over Junta‘s Constitution” from Irrawaddy online news and Interview with Dr Nay Win Maung and Mizzima.

Few months ago, this blogger has bumped into Kadaungnyintha’s blog to read all about “Third Force”. This blogger should not forget to mention the lengthy but interesting Burmakin’s opinion on “Third Force” among the comments.

This blogger strongly recommend readers to visit Kadaung’s blog to read who are actually behind the group, called “Third Force”. (Non Burmese reader will be able to read Kadaung’s post as the most of his opinion and comments were in English)

This blogger main point in this post is not to forget the fact that out parents were cheated by Military dictators of Burma. We were cheated by them too. Are we going to allow our future generations to be cheated to stay forever under Military boots?

This blogger will never forget the bitter experiences of how Burmese people have been cheated by generations of Military Dictators.

Ex dictator Ne Win has cheated, then 28 million Burmese with false hope of returning the power to a Civilian Government. Referendum to approve the new constitution was hold in mid 70s.

Later, Burmese people realized that the a single party (BSPP) Government of Union of Burma was actually run by the same dictators, who have thrown away their uniforms to be with the civilian attire to run Burma as President, Ministers and MPs for another decade.

Burmese Socialist Party (BSPP) was worse then the initial Revolutionary Council. In 1988, Burma has ended up as a least developed country, after years of mismanagement and corruption by BSPP government.

After 88 Revolution, General Saw Maung promised multiparty election to Burmese people. Election was free and fair however all the elected MPs have never got a chance to form a Government. Burmese Army shamelessly broke the promise of their words “We will go back to army barracks after successful election” which was officially declared by General Saw Maung. Burmese people were cheated by Military Dictators again.

After 20 years, Burmese Generals were metamorphosed from soldiers into evil, and their real intent was clearly demonstrated to the whole world in 2007 August September Saffron Revolution.

So why do we need to have split opinion of this evil regime? Who are behind the “Third Force”? Do they have mandate from Burmese people to say something on behalf ? So far only party that has mandated to say on behalf of Burmese people is NLD.

There are several chances for Ne Win, Saw Maung, and Than Shwe for graceful exits.

Before 88 uprising, when Ne Win dissolved the Parliament, he could transfer power to the interim government, and leave the politics.

Saw Maung also have the chance as a Commander in Chief of Armed force for a graceful exit.. After the coupe, he could dissociate with NeWin and return the power to Burmese people. Burmese people could forgive and forget the killings as all Burmese were aware that the real masterminds were Ne Win and Sein Lwin .

There would be no better timing then when Ne Win’s death was announced. General Than Shwe could easily blame all the mistakes to Ne Win, Khin Nyunt regime and return the power to Burmese people, and he would become second Fidel Ramos of South East Asia.

All these dictators have failed to take the chance of graceful exits from the Burmese politics. Why?

The only answer, this blogger could think of is Burmese Army dictators were not sincere and they have no intention to return the Constitutional power to Burmese people.

So, why do we need to have split opinions for Junta’s custom made constitution?

Who are you Dr Nay Win Maung ( Third Force) to preach NLD what to do with Junta guided constitution?

Instead all of us should unite with only one voice, that is to return the power to it’s original owner, Burmese people.

Why did the former Japanese ambassador Yoichi Yamaguchi, make the nasty comment regarding the recent Saffron Uprising in Burma?

A Charity’s Checkered Past

By Bertil Lintner

Excerpts:

In more recent years, the Sasakawa and Nippon foundations have supported seminars organized in Rangoon by the Myanmar [Burma] Institute of Strategic and International Studies on “Research on International Economy in Myanmar” as well as various health projects. The Sasakawa Foundation has also in part financed the Myanmar Times, a weekly newspaper established in March 2000, which the Australian monthly The Diplomat in its November-December 2007 issue quoted critics as describing as “little more than a cheerleader for the junta.”

Yoichi Yamaguchi, the former Japanese ambassador to Burma who recently caused an outcry by openly supporting the regime’s brutal suppression of the monks’ anti-junta demonstrations in Rangoon and elsewhere, has also been linked to some of the activities of Sasakawa’s outfits. On December 14, 2003, the New Light of Myanmar reported that then intelligence chief Gen Khin Nyunt had received Yamaguchi together with Nippon Foundation president Yohei Sasakawa, Ryoichi’s youngest son who now heads the philanthropical empire, after his father-the accused war criminal-passed away 12 years ago

The above paragraph was copied from a pro junta blog. I do not think the meaning of this paragraph really reflects what took place on that day as Daw Suu is unable to defend herself .She is still under detention by Military Junta. However, Daw Suu was right to advise ASEAN to not accept Burma as now all the ASEAN leaders openly admit that they have made a major political blunder by accepting Burma as a member.

After reading Bertil Lintner’s article, this blogger is of the opinion that Yoichi Yamaguchi was lucky that Daw Suu merely scolded him, ( if it was true) by looking at his tarnished background, and insincere approach towards the Burmese people. Actually Daw Suu is not an arrogant leader; on the contrary she is gifted with Political Wisdom! And like her father General Aung San she has the courage to say what is not right for the Burmese People.

Now everybody understands that ASEAN does not do anything good for the Burmese People.

Salute again to Aunty Suu for her courage !
