“Military rule is the cause of anarchism in Pakistan. Military rule is not the solution of the problems of Pakistan”

Benazir Bhutto

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan – Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated Thursday in a suicide attack that also killed at least 20 others at a campaign rally, aides said.

The death of the 54-year-old charismatic former prime minister threw the campaign for the Jan. 8 parliamentary elections into chaos and created fears of mass protests and violence across the nuclear-armed nation, an important U.S. ally in the war on terrorism.

We still do not know who was really behind her assassination.

Her father, Former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto is seen in a Tuesday, February 6, 1979 file photo as he waits for the sentence of The Supreme Court of Pakistan on his conviction and death sentence on a charge of political murder. Later he was executed by then Military Government, led by General Zia.

Banazir, who was accused of having some short coming by her critics however died as a hero as she has escaped at least one assassination attempt after her home coming few months ago. Even though she was well aware of the risk for her life, she has courageously faced it. Now, she has sacrificed her life for the cause she believe for her country.

General Aung San was assassinated by his political enemies. There are still grey area of General Aung San’s assassination and involvement of late Dictator Ne Win of Burma.

His daughter Aung San Suu Kyi was under house arrest for more than a decade for being a leading icon of Democracy Movement in Burma. This blogger is very sure that Benizir’s assassination would be closely watched by the Burmese Generals in Nay Pyi Taw of Burma for their future strategy to deal with pro democracy movement in Burma.

All these leaders has demonstrated extraordinary courage and sacrifice for their country they love. That is their legacy.
