Burmese Embassy in Singapore has only eight draft Constitution Books for estimated 100,000 Burmese staying legally in the Island State.
When, activist Burmese pressed Burmese Embassy to provide the draft constitution booklets, before voting on Sunday, they only have the chance to read the book inside the Embassy Compound at 3:30 pm yesterday.
The strange thing is that all the answers relating to voting matters were given through a non Burmese, Singaporean Staff of Burmese Embassy.
Followings are the questions of Burmese Activists in Singapore, answered in English through Ms Anna by Second Counselor U Myint Htun ,
Answering whether Burmese in Singapore can get the draft Constitution books, from the Burmese Embassy in Singapore, Ms Ana said, Burmese in Singapore are allowed to read the draft constitution books at Counselor Office Counter only. The books are not allowed to photocopy, and also not allowed to bring out the premise of Myanmar Embassy.
Answering the question of whether Burmese can study the draft constitution in the evenings, U Myint Htun replied through Ms Anna, that was impossible as Embassy will be closed at 5:00 pm.
The counselor also said that Myanmar Embassy in Singapore has only eight draft constitution books. That is the reason why so many people come to the Embassy at same to read the draft constitution is impossible.
Dear friends in Singapore, you guys have exposed the true nature of Military Junta guided Referendum to the free world. Thank you.

That is.. the words of late General Saw Maung’s speech to the whole nation on 23rd September 1988. Shall they deserve to be trusted for free and fair referendum?, after reading, well documented pledges which turned out to be lies during last two decades.

Ne Win’s Speech (full text) to the Extraordinary Party Congress of the Burma Socialist Programme Party (BSPP)
July 23 1988 “Party Congress delegates. I speak on matters for calling Extraordinary Party Congress and the matters to be presented, discussed and approved by this Congress and carried out. Other points which need to be included will also be included. I believe the 1988 March and June bloodshed and disturbances were meant as moves by those who took part in the disturbances and those behind them to show lack of confidence in the Government and the Party leading the Government.
It is necessary to assess whether among the people of the entire country, a majority is behind those lacking confidence or a minority. As I believe that holding a national referendum on what they wish–a one-party system or a multi-party system–would bring out the answer, I am asking the Party Congress to hold a referendum.
If the majority want a multi-party system, the present Constitution’s provision under Chapter II, Paragraph 11 for the sole political party leading the State will have to be substituted with wording in consonance with a multi-party system. A suitable lapse of time would of course be needed for convenient movement of the people, production of ballot cards and other requirements.
I request the present organizations to hand over authority without delay, if the new Hluttaw or the organizations formed by that Hluttaw say that they are no longer needed or continue assistance if asked to do so for some time.

Thai PM defends investments in Myanmar
BANGKOK – THAI Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej insisted on Tuesday that the kingdom would continue doing business with neighbouring Myanmar in a bid to pressure the military regime to reform.
Thailand is one of the biggest investors and trading partners in Myanmar, spending billions of dollars a year to tap into the country’s natural gas and hydropower resources to fuel its own growing economy.
‘For example, when we want electricity and we need to a build a dam there, they allow us. If we need transport facilities, they let us build a port. So we are good neighbouring countries,’ Mr Samak said.

(This post was written after reading the news of new Thai PM defending Military Junta of Burma after his successful visit to Nay Pyi Taw)
Logjam,
That is the situation, which Burmese people are facing right now. Burmese blogosphere has been quiet for last few days without any breaking news and events.
Logjam is deadlock, or impasse, or blockage, in simple English.
It is political deadlock, and political emergency for Burma.
This blogger has a friend who is a Captain of Boeing 747. This blogger asked him what is the most exciting period for him in every flight? He said “during take off”.
“Because SOP can not be applied successfully after exceeding certain speed limit”. The pilot could neither abort nor fly the plane if the plane malfunctions after exceeding certain speed limit while taking off from a runway.
Brave Pilots of this Concorde Aircraft followed the SOP even though they new that no chance for them to survive! However avoided crash into populated area.
SOP is standard operating procedure for any kind of Aircraft Emergencies for pilots.
The medical doctors attending to medical emergencies also have to follow SOP. If the doctor fails to follow the SOP, he will face the law suit for negligence.
Same scenario goes to a pilot who failed to follow the SOP, during Aircraft emergency.
SOP is not for pilots or doctors only. Every institution has their own SOP after doing research, and observing repeated failures for generations.
Burma is in political crisis. In other words, it is in Political Emergencies. If a plane crashes due to a negligent pilot hundreds of people may die. If a doctor fails to follow a SOP, a patient or few patients may die.
However, when a country is in Political Emergency and those who are governing the country fail to follow the SOP and negligent, Million of people will die or suffer for generations.
What are the Standard Operating Procedures for Political Logjam for a Government?
The Government must have willingness to find the solution in all possible means. (Keeping all the option open).
They must have strong determination to sacrifice for the Country, with sincere and truthful love to the Motherland.
These people must be void of Arrogance and also free from “Denial Syndrome”.
(Denial Syndrome is normally seen in terminally ill patients who refused to accept that they are going to die)
One may need courage to execute SOP, with clear vision for saving the lives, similar to a pilot of a malfunctioned plane, or a captain of a sinking ship. All of them are risking their lives while saving others.
This blogger keeps on wondering whether the governors of Burma are aware of standard operating procedures practiced by majority of the nations of this world while handling political crisis of Burma.

Please allow this blogger to continue with the Radio Campaign for “No Vote”. This blogger has already said that this referendum is going to be a sham. It was announced in unexpected time to make people caught in surprise. This blogger agrees with Lary Jagan, that it was an act of desperado by General Than Shwe to protect his power base before it is too late.
Lary Jagan wrote in Asia Times, On-line today as follows
The planned referendum and elections indicate Than Shwe’s new determination to press forward with the country’s so-called “roadmap to democracy”, which will ensure a continued role for the military in governance. “Than Shwe obviously now feels he is secure enough in his position … to push on with some measure of reform,” said the Myanmar academic Win Min. “His failing health may also have prompted him to move at this time, as he may fear that time is running out for him.”
Everything was planned for the survival of General Than Shwe, his family and cronies. Than Shwe health is deteriorating fast. He learned a good lesson of how his predecessor Ne Win had lost absolute power, when he was ailing with poor health.
The knee jerk response of General Than Shwe was visible with reappointment of General Kyaw Win as a head of Intelligence Training school with 500,000 kyat a month salary.
Whether Than Shwe is still smart or senile with Alzheimer is non issue for all of us. (Lary Jagan said that he may need a second cardiac operation soon in Singapore!)
The important point for all of us is how we should convey the message of either “No Vote” or “Vote No” to our people. Political leaders should come up with clear message to Burmese people as this referendum will be very important step for our future generation. It will legitimize authority of the Military Junta and will turn Burmese people into the slaves of Military forever if we are not united with one voice.
Well, we all know these facts, but how to make Burmese people aware of the unseen shadow of permanent Military Dictatorship for Burma is looming over them by the name of “referendum at gun point.” Some thinks that Burmese people know what to do.

Not enough with the daily struggle for food, and other basic needs, Burmese people are under tremendous pressure due to poor socioeconomic condition and corruption. Military Junta knows well how to effectively use the ” Fear” tactic to divide and rule among Burmese.
Comrades, from DVB, RFA, and all those who love to see “Free Burma”. Please continue your radio on air with the simple message that tells Burmese people what to do with this referendum. There should be only one voice for referendum among pro-democracy groups and that should be either “No Vote” or ” Vote No”.
Aljazeera, BBC and VOA, should add more slots for “No Vote” or ” Vote No”campaign on their program as soon as possible.
For this blogger, I can only plead the leaders to come up with the clear message for all of us. We would like to hear only one voice from you all “No Vote ” or” Vote No” ?

အေဴခခံဥပေဒမူဳကမ္းကို လူထုက အတည္မဴပႂရေသးေပမဲ့ စစ္အစိုးရ ႎိုင္ငံဴခားေရးဝန္႒ကီး ဦးဥာဏ္ဝင္း ကေတာ့ ႎိုင္ငံဴခားသားနဲႛအိမ္ေထာင္ကဵခဲ့တဲ့ ေဒၞေအာင္ဆန္းစုဳကည္ဟာ အေဴခခံ ဥပေဒအရ ေ႟ၾးေကာက္ပၾဲဝင္ခၾင့္မရႎိုင္ပၝဘူးလိုႛ ႓ပီးခဲ့တဲ့အပတ္က စင္ကာပူႎိုင္ငံမႀာ ေဴပာဳကားခဲ့ပၝတယ္။

Famous Burmese proverb “The Truth Will Prevail. The Rot will surface” struck this blogger’s mind after watching the movie “Rambo” in which Sylvester Stallone went into Burma with his motto: “Live for nothing, or die for something”
Sorry for Myanmar Tat Ma Daw (Burmese Armed Forces), once famous as one of the regions toughest armies have been downgraded into a merciless immoral army that tortured and killed the innocents rather than preventing and protecting it’s people in the eyes of movie goers all over the world. Most of the scenes in this movie in-fact, reflected the actual conducts of current Burmese Army against it’s people.
However, to be fair to Burmese Army, there are some groups of patriotic soldiers who really cherished the country and its people are still within the army staying low profile.
This blogger feels that these groups may be even more than the evil forces. Perhaps, for them, this is the bad time, as their superior Generals over the Throne will be actively doing the surveillance for any signs of possible rebellion within the Army.
This blogger could understand the feeling of these good soldiers as they are blamed for the conducts of a handful of Generals whose ambition is just to stay in the power.
I feel sorry for the Burmese Army, founded by General Aung San ( Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s father), that was born together with the Burmese Independence, seems to be sinking together with the Evil Generals into the abyss of the Sea Of Sin.
