Now, the ball is with Military Junta of Burma. The magnitude of the current crisis faced by the Military Junta is something that they have never considered and prepared for. According to the latest news, Bogalay, Laputa and Phyar Pone, which are the big towns of Delta were devastated the worse. (To be precise 600 villages were under water, more than 80,000 dead, 700,000 homeless, figures only for these three districts ). Survivors were still waiting for help, while surrounded by thousands of floated decomposed bodies in murky water, and others mingled and trapped in between trees and bushes.

This is a Catastrophic Disaster for both the Burmese people and the Military Junta of Burma. An international expert on Disaster said ,” We need more quality people than quantity”. Burmese Junta, which is greatly lacking in experience and resources to handle this kind of disaster, has only two choices, namely between thousand of lives desperately hanging on to life each and every minute, and their own pride.

US Navy has demonstrated its capability in the recent Tsunami in Aceh of Indonesia. Within hours, US navy helicopters were hovering over affected area, medics started mobile field hospitals, and engineers doing logistic such as building pontoon bridges for supply routes.

If Burmese Generals decided to rely on few Russian made helicopters and Chines made boats, with thousands of soldiers who have no experience in handling this kind of disaster, it will become dooms day for those who are still alive. If Burmese Generals are still indecisive for next 48 hours, post cyclone death toll of Burma will reach to unthinkable body counts.

Pride or lives are for Burmese Generals to decide.

The punishment is in God’s hand. Pity the cyclone victim.
